The City of Oakland Park, located in the geographic center of South Florida, was incorporated as the City of Floranada in 1925. Four years later, it became known as the City of Oakland Park.

Currently, the department offers After-School programs at two different locations; Spiher Recreation Center and North Andrews Gardens Community Center. A.S.C.O.O.P or After School Care Of Oakland Park is in full swing with 120 children ages 5 years to 13 years daily. Although the North Andrews Gardens site has a waiting list, some space is still available at Spiher Recreation Center. Daily activities include homework time, soccer, kickball, basketball, bombardment, four square, foosball, tournaments, arts and craft, movies and more! WOW!! There is never a dull moment!
