The City of Oakland Park, located in the geographic center of South Florida, was incorporated as the City of Floranada in 1925. Four years later, it became known as the City of Oakland Park.

Membership &Term Length: This Board consists of seven (7) members. Three (3) members, excluding employees shall be chosen from the general public who are appointed by the City Commission, three (3) employee members, excluding police and fire pension members, shall be elected by the general employees, and one (1) additional member from the general public who shall be elected by the other six (6) members. The length of terms shall be for two (2) years.

Member Qualifications: Employee members of the Board must be vested in the plan under the terms of section 9-37 of the Code of Ordinances.

Meeting Schedule:The GEPP board schedules its regular meetings on the 1st Monday of March, June and December, and the 2nd Monday of September (due to Labor Day), at 6 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities: To administer the Pension Plan for the City's general employees in accordance with the Code of Ordinances of the City of Oakland Park.
