Membership & Term Length: This Board consists of (7) members. Five (5) members of the general public are appointed by the City Commission, one (1) member of the general public is appointed by the City Manager, and (1) member, who shall be a high school or middle school student, is elected by the Board, as a whole. The length of terms shall be for one (1) year.
Member Qualifications: Must be a resident of the City of Oakland Park and registered voter of Broward County. No member shall be an employee of the School Board.
Meeting Schedule: Meetings shall be held on an "as needed" basis, but no less than one meeting every other month. School Advisory Board Meeting Calendar - 2012
Duties and Responsibilities: To advise the City Commission on all issues relating to educational matters which will impact the quality of education for City residents, or which will impact education facilities located within the City. Actively engage in the formulation of a community partnership so as to insure that all community interests regarding education are identified.
