The City of Oakland Park, located in the geographic center of South Florida, was incorporated as the City of Floranada in 1925. Four years later, it became known as the City of Oakland Park.

Membership &Term Length: This Board consists of nine (9) professional members who are appointed by the City Commission. The professional membership will consist of the following members: 1) registered engineer, 2) registered architect, 3) general building contractor, 4) electrical contractor, 5) attorney at law, 6) plumbing contractor, 7) real estate appraiser, 8) real estate property manager, and 9) a citizen with experience and background in the field of social problems. The length sof terms shall be for three (3) years.

Member Qualifications: All professional members shall be registered and licensed in the State of Florida. In the event the City Commission cannot find a properly qualified resident of the City it may appoint a qualified nonresident for the specific professions required.

Available Positions: Plumbing Contractor and Real Estate Appraiser

Meeting Schedule: First Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities: To hold appeal hearings regarding violators of the Minimum Housing Code and condemnation of structures under the South Florida Building Code.
