The Public Works Department is a multi-faceted service oriented organization within our City government structure, tasked with providing uninterrupted delivery of services to the residents, business owners and visitors in Oakland Park.
The Public Works Department delivers a vast array of services including the essential elements of delivering safe potable (drinking) water, wastewater (sewer) collection, and solid waste collection including garbage, recycling and monthly unlimited Bulk Trash pick-up. Other services provided, include the maintenance of safe roadways, sidewalks, and rights-of-way; ongoing maintenance of existing storm water drainage facilities in compliance with our Federally mandated National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit; which also includes the regular maintenance (cleanup) of waterways and lakes. In addition to these public service delivery operations, the department is responsible for key support services involving the maintenance of City facilities (buildings), and City vehicles and equipment.
The Department is made up of 62 Staff members including, administrative, managerial, supervisory, skilled trades, semi-skilled trades, and clerical support in eight distinct divisions: Administration, Solid Waste, Building Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance, Streets, Stormwater, Water, and Wastewater.

PUBLIC WORKS ADMINISTRATION: Includes administration of all eight Divisions of the Public Works Department.
